heirlooms tend to hold a value much higher than the average item

Tradition is something that really tends to keep the family alive, no matter how long it has been since the original owner has passed on to the other side, a treasure of a family heirloom such as an old violin is something that would surely be kept sacred among family members.
Things like instruments tend to develop sound character after several years of wear and tear. Surprisingly, some of the older instruments of yesteryear are still in tact today and playing just as they first did when they were initially created.
