Please give us a short summary of your website?
An investigation of the history of the Aztec empire - everyday life, government, clothes, masks, temples, weapons, jewelry and language. Interesting facts about the Mexicas and other tribes of central Mexico, including culture and religion.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
I was moving to Mexico, and very interested about the history of the country. It's amazing how much the history before the Spanish arrived is still a part of everyday life today, especially the history of the Aztec empire.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
My first website was one page on Geocities - I was trying to find out who was in an old photograph that the family had.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
Pretty clear - Aztec history is what it's all about!
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
I've done my own research, and I have some information you won't find elsewhere. Thus far every article is unique.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
I'm continuing to add more and more articles related to the topic, and to explore different aspects of the ancient Aztec empire.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
It's worth it to learn about the history of the country of Mexico. And fun!
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
Good question. Perhaps I could hire more researchers, fund research and archaeological digs. :)
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
You betcha.
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
Just one or two dumb mistakes I made!
What has been your biggest challenge?
Finding the time for the research.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Probably just submitting to search engines - oh, and this site!
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
It's been a lot of work, but I've enjoyed it.
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
Good question. The site is in its second year, and I have no plans to close it down.
What's your favourite page on the site?
Probably this one: http://www.aztec-history.com/aztec-food.html
I'm a sucker for good food. :)
